Marketing Business SchoolsInterested in marketing? Well here is a list of five business programs that have excellent programs in marketing that you may not have heard of, ironic as that sentence may be.

1. University of Florida

The Warrington College of Business Administration at the University of Florida has a nationally-recognized marketing program that focuses on consumer behavior, marketing management, and marketplace phenomenon. According to their website, “students study the critical linkages between an organization and its environment, particularly customers and competitors.” Recent admissions statistics include an average admitted GMAT score of 670 and an average undergraduate GPA of 3.4.

2. Loyola Marymount University

LMU’s MBA program is a highly-ranked business school located in Los Angeles, California. In addition to a core curriculum, students have the option to select an area of emphasis, including Marketing Management. The student-to-faculty ratio is about 8:1 (about 300 students in each class), and the program has some very flexible scheduling options for busy professionals such as yourself. For more adventurous students, LMU also offers a couple of opportunities to study abroad in Bonn, Germany and in various other locations around the world. Other important application information includes:

  • Minimum two years work experience (internships acceptable)
  • GMAT or GRE score (Average GMAT score is 596)
  • Average admitted GPA is 3.35

3. Duke University

Among the twelve concentrations offered to students at the Fuqua School of Business in Durham, North Carolina is a marketing concentration.

Students at Fuqua will learn how to manage brand equity by mastering three key skills, as stated on their website:

  1. Identify where value can be created by capturing and understanding the voice of the customer.
  2. Deliver value to customers and thus manage the firm’s brand equity via the tools available to a marketing manager (e.g., the traditional 4 P’s of product, price, place, and promotion.)
  3. Manage the customer and brand asset by choosing and managing the firm’s relationships with its customers, channel members, suppliers, and competitors.

Other admission statistics include:

  • Average GMAT score of 695
  • Admission rate of about 25%
  • Undergraduate GPA average of 3.41
  • Average of about 5 years working experience

4. University of Michigan Ann Arbor

The Ross School of Business in Ann Arbor, Michigan is an excellent business school that offers a concentration in marketing. At Ross, students learn how to apply concepts from a variety of disciplines, including psychology, economics, statistics, engineering, and even neuroscience to solve problems in today’s marketplace. Ross also offers a variety of program options, including full-time, evening, weekend, and global MBAs, providing flexible options for students at any stage of life. With an average GMAT score of 708, the University of Michigan is extremely competitive.

5. University of Wisconsin – Madison

The A.C. Nielsen Center for Marketing Research in Madison, Wisconsin is an MBA program that specializes in – you guessed it – marketing research. All students take part in a 12-week internship during the summer between the first and second year at various companies such as Clorox, General Mills, Johnson & Johnson, PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble, Shutterfly, and Walmart. The internship is a required part of the curriculum, which is great for students looking to gain invaluable experience tackling real-world issues in a real-world setting.

Interesting/important things to consider if you are applying to UWM:

  • There is no minimum GPA requirement, but if you are admitted with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or less you will be required to maintain a 3.0+ GPA or higher to remain in the program.
  • Average GMAT score is 668.
  • Average years of work experience is just slightly more than 5.
